Extending your Property

If you're looking to increase the value of your home or property then you way want to consider having an extension built. Extensions are an extremely popular way of adding some significant value to your property, particularly if they're well done.

There are many different ways in which you can extend your property, but one of the most common types of extensions that is extremely popular in the UK is the conservatory. Many people throughout the country will have conservatories built onto their home as this can be done relatively cheaply and easily, plus there are fewer restrictions on conservatories than on bricks and mortar extensions. They're always a popular feature on properties that have an attractive garden as a conservatory will allow the owner to sit and enough the view from the inside.

However, if you're seriously considering building an extension to improve the size of your property then this might not be the way to go. Whilst conservatories do add another room to your property they're typically not that large and the room itself is often of little use. If you want to extend sections of your property then you'll need to apply for planning permission from your local authority. Providing that the proposed extension is not too intrusive and won't have a negative effect on the local environment and neighbouring properties it is fairly unlikely that you application will be refused. Planning permission isn't necessary for all types of extension, but it's best to check first or you could find yourself in some legal trouble.
